Turkish bath
The Turkish baths – also called hamam – is the Middle Eastern variant of a steam bath and it is also diffused in some wellness hotels in South Tyrol.
The Turkish bath can be categorized as a very wet relative of the classic sauna.
Bathers then move to an even hotter room (known as the hot room) and stay there lying on a hot marble stone for about 20 minutes, before splashing themselves with cold water. After the full body wash, bathers receive a massage made by a "tellak", which helps further to soap and scrubbing the bodies of their clients.
Thereafter the guests cool down and relax in a colder room, drinking tea or smoking a water pipe.
